Right winger Malcom was on Spurs’ radar last summer before he signed for the Catalans and became a Barcelona player. The move from French side Bordeaux cost Barca £37 million. Now, the La Liga champions want to cash out on the player and have started looking for prospective buyers. Due to their prior interest in the right winger, Tottenham are obviously part of his possible destinations.
Spurs wanted Malcom last year but he became a Barca player
The Corinthians academy player’s star was on the rise last summer and he tried to extract maximum mileage out of it by getting a last minute move to Barcelona. The Catalans had missed out on Willian, as Chelsea refused to sell the veteran winger. Barcelona decided to fill that gap with another Brazilian: you guessed it- Malcom.
When Malcom signed for Barcelona, he had been actively pursued by Tottenham for several weeks. Pochettino really wanted him at Spurs but he decided to live the life of a Barca player. Although mostly from the bench as he only played 15 games in the Spanish league last season, producing an underwhelming and disappointing number of goals and assists.
AS says Barcelona want to move Malcom out
The policy at Barcelona is to show the door to players who don’t match the bar set. They are scared about how they will go about selling Coutinho but at 22, Malcom is still a very sellable asset, just not for £37 million. Spanish news outlet AS reports that Barcelona are looking at a clear-out and Malcom is the first name on the sell list.
Could Tottenham be enticed to buy Malcom for a cut-price deal? Should Pochettino go for the Brazilian winger. With Tanguy NDombele, Lo Celso and even Jack Clarke lined-up, wouldn’t he be an overkill this window? Let us know in the comments. COYS!
