Andreas Pereira: “I might steal Pogba’s phone so he doesn’t speak to anyone”

Manchester United star Andreas Pereira has talked about his desire to have Paul Pogba stay at Manchester United beyond this summer transfer window.

Paul Pogba’s time at Manchester United have been marred with controversies and the midfielder has taken that up a notch last month by talking about looking for ‘new challenges elsewhere’, whilst being under contract with United.

Pogba’s agent Mino Raiola gave the latest update over the future of the Frenchman which you can read here, and things aren’t looking very promising, as far as the world cup winner’s future is concerned.

However, Andreas Pereira, who is set to play a big part under Ole Gunnar Solskjaer this season, has had some positive things to say about the Frenchman and has even devised a plan to force Pogba to stay at the Old Trafford beyond the summer:

“It is great [to train and play with him] – just in the group he is a great person.

“It will be very important if he stays with us. He is a very good player and a top-class as a person as well.

“I learn from him every day. He is one of my closest friends, I have been here with him since 16, so he is like family to me.

“I might have to steal his phone so he doesn’t speak to anyone!”

The 23-year-old midfielder had a difficult time last year and was criticized heavily for ‘that’ expensive error in a 2-2 draw with Burnley in January.

However, Ole still put his faith in Pereira and gave him the confidence that the 23-year-old desperately needed to succeed at United.

And now, Andreas Pereira is ready to repay that faith this season:

“It was difficult but after the mistake, I was doing well,” Pereira added.

“The manager spoke with me, I had to sit down, it was difficult for me but I came back with the goal against Southampton.

“I feel strong, I feel that I can step up. I feel that I have to take my chance now and I will be ready to take it this season. I have a lot more to show.”

A supremely talented midfielder, one feels that Pereira only needs some consistency to finally reach that level we all hoped he would, eventually.

Hopefully, this is the season he finds his level!
