Andy Robertson has admitted that he played with an injury against Wolves in Liverpool’s final Premier League fixture and now will utilise the time for recovery before the Champions League final.
The Reds had a wonderful domestic season as they finished on 97 points just one behind champions Manchester City.
Jurgen Klopp has given his squad time to rest ahead of their crucial European Cup finals against Tottenham in Madrid on June 1.
Later this week the players will return to Melwood to begin their preparations for their encounter with Mauricio Pochettino’s men.
“It’s so important, being able to switch off and spend some time with your family, just trying to forget about football because it is an intense period of time,” the defender told Liverpoolfc.com.
“If you can even switch off for two or three days then it’s perfect. I am sure in the back of our minds all of us will have the final, you can’t help that, but we’ll try and switch off as best we can and then we’ll go full steam ahead into the next couple of weeks.”
Robertson is still recovering from calf niggle after he was substituted in the 44th minute against the Wolves in Sunday’s fixture.
The 25-year-old left back is now hoping to recover before the finals against Tottenham.
