Former Chelsea manager Antonio Conte wants to replace Ole Gunnar Solskjaer as the next Manchester United manager, according to the latest reports.
According to the leading Italian news and media website Gazzetta Dello Sports, Antonio Conte is looking for a new job at a top European Club before the start of the next transfer window.
Antonio Conte was fired by Roman Abramovich from his Chelsea job last year, but according to a clause in his contract, Chelsea still owes 20 million Euro to the Italian if he doesn’t take over the job at any other club until the end of this season, hence the hiatus.
There have already been job offers for the Italian manager, most notably from Roma and Inter Milan, but reports suggest that Conte has his eyes set on the Manchester United job because “it matches his ambition”.
Ole Gunnar Solskjaer made a bright start to his life as a Man United manager but his team has won only 2 of the last 9 games. Although there is still no risk to Ole’s job, Antonio Conte would want some kind of assurance from Ed Woodward and co before deciding on his future.
Antonio Conte won the Premier League in his first season as the Chelsea manager. The Italian also won the FA Cup in his second season defeating us in the finals before being sacked by Roman Abramovich.
