Manchester United manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer and the former Man United manager and legend Sir Alex Ferguson have always maintained a close relationship.
OGS and Sir Alex have won plenty of trophies in their time together with the Champions League win in 1999 being the best of the lot.
However, as it turns out, Sir Alex kind of pissed off OGS during the half time of that clash.
“He spoke to Teddy at length at half-time and that pissed me off.
“I thought: ‘I’ve scored 17 goals for you this season, mostly coming on as sub – aren’t you going to speak to me?’
“That’s the way to trigger me; to make me feel: ‘I’m going to prove you wrong’.”
As it turns out, the tactics worked quite well for Sir Alex as Ole scored United’s second injury-time goal to win us the silverware:
“I forget what the gaffer said to me afterwards, but I’ve got a picture of us together and I will always remember thinking at that moment: ‘You deserve this – you deserve so much to win the Champions League’.
“We did it for him, as a manager. You almost well up when you think about it. He was that kind of manager.”
How beautiful will it be if we can win the Champions League again this season with all the odds against us? One can dream, right?
