The 21-year-old English Centre-back spent last season on loan at the Championship side Aston Villa where he struggled with regular injuries in the first half of the season.

However, the youngster was one of the best players and the probably the first name on the team-sheet in the second half of the season, as Tuanzebe impressed everyone immensely with his consistently brilliant performances in the defence that helped Aston Villa climb up the Premier League ladder.

Meanwhile, at Manchester United, the situation at the centre-back is obviously dire with only Victor Lindelof good enough to start every game for the club of this stature.

Marcos Rojo is an injury or red card waiting to happen, Eric Bailly, again, has spent most of his time in the medical room while the duo of Phil Jones and Chris Smalling aren’t good enough to start every game for a club with an ambition to challenge for all the trophies.

Oh, and there’s Matteo Darmian and Ashley Young and both are past it, so…

There have been news and speculations of United looking to spend £80m-90m on Harry Maguire but, hey, we’ve already got one of the best young and English defenders in the UK at our disposal, so why not tie him down to a new contract first?

As per the reports, United are looking to do just that as Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is looking to give the youngster an opportunity to stake his claim in the pre-season friendlies.

Manchester United are scheduled to fly to Australia on Sunday where they take on Perth Glory and Leeds United before traveling to Asia for matches against Inter Milan and Tottenham Hotspurs.

It would be a perfect opportunity for Tuanzebe to show the gaffer what he’s made of and move up in the pecking order.
