Frenkie De Jong has already agreed a summer move to Barcelona. Ajax are making £75 million on the Netherlands international. The central midfielder has been following his future team in the UCL, exiting it at the same time.
The 22 year old was in high demand and Barcelona sealed the deal early to avoid competition and skyrocketing price. He played his last game for the Amsterdam club this weekend and is ever so close to Barcelona now.
His transfer was agreed in January, but he stayed on for the season at the Dutch club. Making a dream Champions League run to the semi-finals in the process. He has played 30 league games and 11 Champions League games this season, and at 22 years of age is a relatively better known player than his team-mates like Matthijs De Ligt.
Ending up in much similar circumstances at his current club as the players at his former club, he was recently asked about Barcelona’s loss to Liverpool in the semi-final.
“I watched the match between Liverpool and Barcelona. I don’t know if they need me!
“Had they been in the final, they could have won the treble.”
