Barcelona were triumphant by three goals to nil against Liverpool in the semi-final first leg. The Catalan club has since played and lost a league match against Celta Vigo and may also have lost an important star to injury.
The match against Celta Vigo which Barcelona lost by two goals also saw Ousmane Dembele get out injured. Even though Ernesto Valverde rested the best of his team against Vigo such as Messi, Coutinho and Suarez.
Even midfielder Ivan Rakitic was out of the domestic tie, perhaps in anticipation of a tough match at Anfield. Barcelona rested a number of their most important players and ended up paying the price. Not just in terms of the result.
Dembele had to be taken off within three minutes of starting the tie alongside fellow second choice players like Kevin Prince-Boateng. It appears the Frenchman has injured his groin in the league game. Here’s Valverde’s assessment of the injury to his young star Dembele:
“With Dembele, it looks like a tear,”
“We had already noticed during the play that something was not right.

Liverpool were not without injury concerns of their own as they heroically came through against Newcastle United to take the league battle to City’s doors. Divock Origi started and repaid the faith showed in him by Klopp by scoring the winner at St. James’ Park.
Even then, Firmino is himself being considered a doubt for the Barcelona match where Liverpool will need all hands on deck. Hopefully, Barcelona will suffer some more setbacks before the match and we will see Bobby return for the match.
