According to the Metro, who are quoting Mundo Deportivo, Barcelona has held talks with Juan Mata’s father over a possible transfer to the Catalonia Club.
Here’s what the Metro is reporting:
Barcelona have reportedly ruled out the prospect of signing Juan Mata after holding talks with the Manchester United star’s father.
So, why have Barcelona ruled out the prospect of signing the Spaniard from Manchester United?
According to Mundo Deportivo, Barcelona has informed Mata’s father that they are already very stacked in the Midfield and a transfer of Mata would seem a bit of an overkill.
Also given the fact that Frenkie De Jong would be arriving from Ajax in the summer, a transfer for Mata wouldn’t make much sense for Barcelona.
Juan Mata, meanwhile, has already said that he misses his home country and would like to go back if the opportunity ever arises:
‘I’ve been in England for a while. It’s true that at times you miss home, your family, your friends,’ he said.
It seems like Mata’s career at Man United could be coming to an end. The Spaniard has been a humble and ideal servant to the Club and we wish him the best if this one is indeed his last season!
