23 year old Argentine midfielder Giovani Lo Celso is under a transfer bid from Tottenham Hotspur. The news broke even as Spurs prepare for the Champions League final with just a few hours to go. BBC reports that Spurs have put in a bid of £53 million.
BBC report that Spurs have bid for the Argentine Giovani Lo Celso
Lo Celso first moved from his homeland in 2016 for Paris Saint Germain. However, the youngster couldn’t make a place for himself in the French side’s squad and moved to Real Betis on a permanent transfer after spending the previous season on loan from PSG.
In 46 games this season, the midfielder has 16 goals and 6 assists in all competitions. It is expected that once surrounded by players of better quality, his output will also increase. Maybe that’s the reason Betis have an £88 million release clause in his contract.
His current contract doesn’t expire until 2021, and United are also interested in his signature. So the ball is firmly in Betis’ court. Can Daniel Levy negotiate a better price than his release clause?
He scored 16 goals and registered six assists in 45 games for Betis last season and has been named in Argentina’s squad for the Copa America
Lucas Moura remains the last signing by Spurs, joining in January window of 2018.
Tottenham have to focus on the Champions League final
Before the transfer can be sorted out, Pochettino has bigger fish to fry in the form of Liverpool. The two English teams will duke it out for the crown of Europe in Madrid. In pre-match press conference, Klopp has already detailed his team’s injury updates. Harry Kane may also have recovered to start for Spurs.
