As Juan Mata enters a final couple of months of his contract, the speculations are rife whether the Spaniard will renew at Manchester United or leave us on a free transfer.
Earlier, Juan Mata was asked a few questions about his future and the Midfielder was very diplomatic with his answers.
However, Mata’s father was a bit more open the situation and has revealed that Man United have indeed offered him a contract extension:
“Manchester United have offered to renew us, we are very happy,” he told Cadena SER.
“But there are proposals from Champions League teams.
“Spain, maybe, but today is not the day to talk, it is not yet decided.”
It’s not a secret that Juan Mata would love to go back to Spain. However, there’s no chance the much loved little magician would join Manchester City or Liverpool in the future:
“City? It would not be the ideal option,” he added.
“There are two options that do not [appeal]: Liverpool and City.
“We have to respect the Manchester United fans, he is held very dear here.”
Juan was a fan favourite during his time at Chelsea and it has been a similar case at Manchester United. The man is as humble as they come. Hopefully, he decides to extend his stay and be a role model for the young players for years to come!
