Chelsea has confirmed Petr Cech as the new technical and performance advisor at the club.
The 37-year-old Czech international has been told by the Chelsea management to focus on building strong links between the first team and the academy, to ensure that all the young players at the club have a clear pathway to the first team.
Petr Cech will be providing his advice on all football and performance related matters at the Chelsea club.
Former Chelsea star made his return back to the club having won 13 trophies as a player during his 11 years at Stamford Bridge between 2004 and 2015.
Czech said, “I feel very privileged to have this opportunity to join Chelsea again and help create the best possible high-level performance environment to continue the success the club has had over the past 15 years,” the former goalkeeper said.
“I’m looking forward to the new challenge and hope I can use all of my football knowledge and experience to help the team achieve even more success in the future.”
Chelsea director Marina Granovskaia said that she always wanted to bring the Blues legend back to the club once his playing days were over.
“We are delighted to welcome Petr back home to Chelsea,” she said.
“We always hoped that when Petr was ready to retire we would see him back at Chelsea FC and we are thrilled to add his expertise and knowledge of the game to the technical staff.”
Czech will be expecting his former teammate Frank Lampard to be joining the club as the new manager by the next week.
