CSKA Moscow forward Fyodor Chalov is being eyed by Chelsea during the January transfer window.
The 21-year-old has been in prolific form for the last couple of seasons bagging 15 goals for the Russian club last season and has already scored six times this season.
Chelsea owner Roman Abramovich is said to have a great relationship with CSKA and the blues will be banking on the billionaire’s connection to secure the signing of the highly-rated striker.
Frank Lampard has already made it clear that signing a new number 9 is going to be one of his top priorities this January.
Chelsea’s backup striker Giroud’s contract is set to expire soon and he will most likely leave Stamford Bridge in the next few weeks with West Ham and Crystal Palace interested.
This would leave space for another striker and, according to the Daily Express, Chalov could be the man for the job.
Chelsea have also made inquiries with RB Leipzig for Germany striker Timo Werner, and have offered Giroud plus cash for Lyon forward Moussa Dembele.
Other big names such as Borussia Dortmund superstar Jadon Sancho have also been linked with a move. With the coffers at Stamford Bridge full to the brim after the club’s lack of signings and from the sales of Eden Hazard, fans can expect substantial activity in January.
