WHAT IS IT
Pre-season friendly between Chelsea and Kawasaki Frontale Live from Japan.
WHERE IS IT
The fixture will take place at Nissan Stadium in Yokohama, Japan
WHEN IS IT
The match will kick-off at 10:00 AM GMT (11:00 AM BST) on Friday, the 19th of July.
WHO ARE KAWASAKI FRONTALE
Kawasaki Frontale were the champions of the J-League last season and currently sit third in the J-League with just one loss in 18 games.
For the Blues, Antonio Rudiger, Callum Hudson-Odoi and Ruben Loftus-Cheek still remain unavailable due to injury with the former two hoping to return by mid-September. Tammy Abraham is out with illness.
However, the good news for Chelsea is that the new signing from Borussia Dortmund, Christian Pulisic, is back for Frank Lampard and the American could feature for 45 minutes against the Japanese club.
Other than that, Chelsea doesn’t have any injury concerns after Frank Lampard confirmed that N’Golo Kante is set to feature for Chelsea against Kawasaki Frontale.
We expect the gaffer to start two different starting eleven with different formations in either half like he did in the last game against St. Patrick Athletic, however, it won’t be about just fitness anymore:
“Pre-season moves very fast, so we must focus on finding the right solutions individually and as a team.
“We are at a stage where as a new manager at a club I have to look at all the players in different formations, in training and in games. I have to give game-time to lots of players, as I did in Ireland. You will see some changes during the game, giving players minutes for their fitness, but also I will be looking very carefully at individuals and collectively as a team to see how we work.
“As pre-season goes on we will have to work more towards the team we feel can start the season and try to come towards the squad we will use for the Premier League and the Champions League.”
HEAD TO HEAD
This will be the first time that Chelsea will meet Kawasaki Frontale.
