Manchester United are leading the race to sign Real Betis star Giovani Lo Celso ahead of Tottenham, according to the latest reports.
While the Red Devils are in a dire need of a Centre-Back and a Right-Back, it seems like Ed Woodward and the manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer have made it a priority to sign a world-class Central Midfielder after the departure of Ander Herrera and questions mark over Paul Pogba’s future.
There were recent reports linking Youri Tielemans as a backup option for the midfield position while the consistent links to Bruno Fernandes still persists. Now, it seems like we can add another name to the mix; Giovano Lo Celso.
The Argentine Central Midfielder was on loan at Real Betis from PSG last season before the La Liga club snapped him up for £20m, thanks to some impressive performances from the youngster.
With 9 goals and 5 assists to his names in 32 league appearances (16 goals in all competitions) for the La Liga outfit, Lo Celso has been one of the better performers in the Spanish League which has seen him linked to various top clubs across Europe.
Tottenham, reportedly, made a £52m bid for the Midfielder which was subsequently rejected while Everton have previously shown interest in the services of the 23-year-old.
Real Betis, meanwhile, are demanding nothing less than £88m for their star player, thus making a £68m profit on a player they just bought a season ago.
Should Manchester United fork up that kind of money on Giovano Lo Celso, he could become our second most expensive signing of all time.
Do you think we should invest that much money on Lo Celso when Bruno Fernandes and Antoine Griezmann are available at that price range?
