Barcelona are playing at home in the first leg of the semi-final against Liverpool. The fixture is close enough that Barcelona have named there 18 man squad to face the Reds.
While Luis Suarez and Coutinho, the two former Reds in the Barca squad are set to play against their former team, one notable omission from the list grabs our attention.
Liverpool’s aim in this game would be to get an all-important away goal because otherwise they risk a disadvantage in the second-leg at home. Everyone knows how capable Messi and Co. are of scoring at any ground against any opponent.
An away goal at the Nou Camp meanwhile gives Klopp’s side an edge that they can then defend at Anfield.
Here’s Barcelona’s 18 men prepared to face Liverpool:
Ter Stegen, N. Semedo, Piqué, I. Rakitic, Sergio, Coutinho, Arthur, Suárez, Messi, O. Dembélé, Cillessen, Malcom, Lenglet, Jordi Alba, S. Roberto, Vidal, Umtiti and Aleñá.
The most notable absentee for the Catalans is Brazilian midfielder Rafinha. However it is unlikely that Barcelona will be outmatched as they still have a good number of players to call upon.
In terms of the head-to-head between the two teams, Liverpool come out on top with three wins to Barca’s two. Two games between the two European giants have ended in a draw. So for once, history is in the favour of Liverpool.
Barcelona’s missing players:
Kevin-Prince Boateng, Rafinha, Thomas Vermaelen
In Klopp’s team, Roberto Firmino may be carrying a slight injury concern with his groin.
