Manchester United’s new signing, Daniel James, has revealed that the new plans instilled by the manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer are helping the team on the pitch.
Manchester United have had a great pre-season, winning all four matches against Perth Glory, Leeds United, Inter Milan and recently against Tottenham Hotspurs; all on the back of a brilliant performance from the squad.
But, what has changed from the last season? Sure, we have brought in Daniel James and Aaron Wan-Bissaka and the youngsters, especially Mason Greenwood has been mighty impressive, but has there been a change in the tactics from last season?
Well, as per Daniel James:
“We’ve been showing what we’ve been doing in training,” James said.
“That high press and trying to win the ball back. We’ve had chances and goals from it today when we’ve won the ball high up and we’ve gone on the counter which is something the gaffer has brought. That’s his philosophy.”
The 21-year-old has featured prominently in all of the pre-season games for the Red Devils, however, the Welshman doesn’t expect to start for us, thanks to the presence of many established players in his position:
“I wouldn’t say surprised because the manager brought me in for a reason. Obviously, my aim is to play but I don’t expect to play. We’ve got amazing forward players here and even the youngsters coming through have done really well.
“Mason (Greenwood) has scored two, (Tahith) Chongy has done really well and Angel (Gomes) scored today. It’s always going to be tough but it’s a long season. If it’s not there at the start I’ve just got to keep biding my time and try and get in that team. Obviously, I hope that I start on the first day but it’s not always the case. I’ve started a few but we’ve shared the minutes. I think all the positions are still up for grabs.”

Daniel James looks like a really good future prospect with the right attitude and intent and should fit right in at Manchester United with Solskjaer at the helms. Hopefully, he hits the ground running too!
