Eriksen announced to the media that he wished for a new challenge in his career after Tottenham’s Champions League defeat. Eriksen waited until he was on international duty with Denmark, and this approach to the media is not appreciated by club President Daniel Levy.
Spurs midfielder Christian Eriksen wants out of Spurs, and is looking to make a step up in his career. In order to achieve this dream he wants to move to Real Madrid. However, the Spurs midfielder has clarified that there is no approach from the Madrid club yet.
Following Eriksen’s ‘wish’, his agent also went to the media and spoke about the transfer. Martin Schoots said that there were three offers for his client even during the last summer window so finding a club should not be a problem. Two of those offers were from English clubs and there’s only the top six clubs who could afford him.
27 year old Eriksen has been a Spurs player since 2013 and has played 206 games for the club. He has been part of the journey with Pochettino from the start and was crucial as the team reached the first Champions League final in their history.
Daniel Levy is upset that while Eriksen was with the team following the final in Madrid, he didn’t talk about leaving. But as soon as he got the chance with Denmark, he spoke about his ‘wish’ to leave Spurs. This was considered a betrayal of the trust Levy has put in the player. Eriksen’s contract runs out in the summer of 2020 and since he’s not extending the deal he signed in 2016, Spurs need to sell him this summer if they are to get anything out of their main attacking midfielder.
