Danny Mills has expressed his surprise at the success of Manchester United forward Daniel James and praised him for his consistent performance.
In an exclusive interview given to Football Insider correspondent Laura O’Leary, former England international said that he never expected James to be performing so well at this level.
Man United signed the 22-year-old winger from Swansea during the summer transfer window and the boy hasn’t disappointed Ole Gunnar Solskjaer at all.
Mills added that James’ undoubtedly possessed the quality to perform well at the highest level, but his consistency is what has taken him by surprise.
When asked whether he is surprised how James has taken to the Premier League like a duck to water, Mills told Football Insider:
Oh definitely, in days of old he would have come into Man United and would have been eased into things.
“He’s almost gone into Man United and carried them at times, he’s been that good you’d have to say.
“He’s been absolutely superb with what he’s done and he’s offered.
“Surprised of his quality? No. Surprised that he has settled in so quickly and been able to maintain that? Probably yes.
“Because often you have that adrenaline rush from being a new player, but he seems to have continued his good form and he’s really starting to become one of the first names on the teamsheet.”
James has racked up three goals and registered five assists for United so far, with his three goals coming in his first four Premier League outings for the club.
