Darren Bent has revealed that he’s surprised at the exclusion of Tottenham new-boy Jack Clarke from the Spurs pre-season squad.
The North London club acquired Clarke for a fee of around £10m from Leeds United and sent him back on loan for the current season.
Delighted to have signed for @spursofficial and very excited for what the future brings. But for now, it’s back to @leedsunited to help them get back to where they belong💙💛#MOT #COYS pic.twitter.com/7kbmXX5vtP

And, ex-Spurs star Bent is surprised that the club have not given the “brilliant” Clarke a chance to shine under Pochettino.
“I think it is a really exciting signing Jack Clarke, he really impressed me for Leeds, he was brilliant,” Bent told the Football Insider.
“I thought it was only a matter of time before somebody come and got him.
“He’s at the right club for him. I mean I’m slightly surprised that a club like Spurs – they got to the Champions League final without signing a single player – so it seems funny that they signed someone and sent him back to Leeds, it’s a bit of a crazy one.
Time will tell, I mean I’m all for that but maybe not in Spurs’ situation because Spurs need players. You saw how thin their squad was last season when they lost Harry Kane, Dele Alli was out for a little bit.
“They were thin, they were quite light so you’d think buying someone like a Jack Clarke, you’d want to get him ready now unless they’re planning on signing someone else.
He went on to add:
“For Jack Clarke, I’d have liked to have seen him around the squad, maybe do pre-season with Spurs first, see how he got on, see how he lives up to the mark,” added Bent to Football Insider.
“For all they know, he might have played some pre-season games, excelled, looked really comfortable and then you keep him.
“At the end of the day, Spurs are a well run football club, as I well know. Pochettino is a fantastic manager, nothing will go on at that football club without his sanction.”
Clarke made 25 appearances for Marcelo Bielsa’s side last season out of which only five were starts.
