Manchester United have agreed a long term contract with Goalkeeper Dean Henderson, according to the reports published by Football Insider.
The 22-year-old, who has been on loan at Sheffield United for the past 2 seasons, has been performing exceptionally well for the Championship side in-between the sticks.
The youngster even guided his loan side to the Premier League promotion by helping them finish in the 2nd position in the Championship.
There were talks and rumours that the 22-year-old would return to Manchester United after David De Gea failed to sign a new contract at the Old Trafford.
Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is said to be a big fan of Henderson and holds him in high regard.
However, the manager thinks that it would serve him best to go out on loan again and experience the Premier League with Sheffield United where he’s a first choice goalkeeper.
“Let’s see what we do with Dean.
“He obviously won promotion with Sheffield United and that’s been fantastic for him.
“If he plays a year in the Premier League, for him that might be the best thing.”
David De Gea’s contract at Manchester United expires next season and it seems like the Spaniard won’t be extending his deal and would possibly walk out on a free.
Dean Henderson is an exceptional talent who has done extremely well in the Championship. But, Premier League is a different level altogether.
If the 22-year-old could continue his good form in the League next season, the Englishman could be in a shout as De Gea’s replacement ahead of someone like Joel Pereira who is on loan at the Belgian side Kortrijk.
Do you think Dean Henderson could be a good enough replacement for De Gea and save us a few millions on the goalkeeper transfer?
