Manchester United academy and loan star Dean Henderson has revealed that he’s good enough to play for Manchester United right now.
The 22-year-old spent last season on loan at Sheffield United where he helped the Championship club to qualify for the Premier League.
The Englishman started every league game at his loan club last season and kept a staggering 21 clean-sheets in the process.
Sheffield United are obviously desperate and eager to keep him at the club, whether it is on loan or as a permanent signing, however, Manchester United are reluctant to let him leave on a permanent transfer and rightly so.
With David de Gea’s future still in doubt, Henderson could be a perfect option to replace the Spaniard, at least that’s what the 22-year-old thinks:
‘Whether that is at Manchester United, Sheffield United, wherever, I’m good enough to be a Premier League goalkeeper.
‘I deserve that chance,’ Henderson told the Daily Mail.
‘It’s a tough one to say where. But do I think I should be playing at Manchester United now? Yes I do.
‘I think I am good enough and I would help the team a lot, in a positive way.
‘If not there I’m sure I could go back to Sheffield United, play a season and then I’ll prove to Manchester United what they are missing.’
Dean Henderson has made it clear to Ole Gunnar Solskjaer and co. that he’s ready to be a Premier League starter, whether it is at Manchester United or Sheffield United.
Considering how impressive this lad has been in the past couple of seasons, the ideal case for the Red Devils would be to tie him down on a new contract, send him on another loan at Sheffield United, let him have the Premier League experience and slowly ease him in the first team next season, if he continues his development at the same rate.
What do you think about Dean Henderson? Is he good enough to replace David de Gea?
