Dejan Lovren was a man once at the heart of Liverpool’s defence. Even until last season, the Croatian was important. Hovever, the arrival of Van-Dijk in last year’s January window and the emergence of Joe Gomez have taken the wind out of his Liverpool career.
Liverpool finished the current season on an all time great 97 points and yet lost the title to Man City. Still, the season may end with huge success if Klopp manages to beat Tottenham in the Champions League final. The two English teams will play an all England Champions League final on June 1.
Despite all this success, Lovren insists that Liverpool are still in ascendancy and nobody really knows about the heights they will hit in the coming seasons. The 29 year old only has 13 appearances in the league this season and is not the first choice. But the effects of Klopp’s coaching are clear to even the squad players.
Dejan Lovren’s Liverpool vision for the future
The Daily Star has published statements attributed to the defender where he talks about the contrast between the Liverpool of 2015 and the Liverpool this season. Going on to claim that the best is yet to come:
“Last season we did quite well, we had quite a lot of injuries and reached the final of the Champions League.
“This year, with the new players, we reached second place with 97 points, it’s incredible, and again the final of the Champions League so definitely we are again one of the contenders for next year to do something great.
“So, at the end we have another final and I’m sure we will come back with big smiles.”

Let’s hope Liverpool can win the first trophy of Klopp’s tenure to prove every Red player and fan right. Hopefully, Tottenham won’t prove much of a hurdle now that the likes of Barcelona have been dealt with.
