Departing Atletico Madrid icon Diego Godin would be the ‘perfect signing’ for Manchester United says ex-West Ham goalkeeper Shaka Hislop.
The Uruguayan is set to leave Atletico after nine years in Madrid.

He made over 400 appearances with the Rojiblancos winning six major trophies.
He has been linked with many teams with a free transfer to Inter Milan touted as his most likely destination.
Godin was a target for United during Jose Mourinho’s tenure at the club and Hislop believes that the Red Devils should make a move for the 33-year-old.
“Despite his age, still one of the best defenders in world football,” He said
“Heavily linked with Inter Milan as we were discussing before.
“I think he fits in almost anywhere because of his experience, because of what he can bring.
“Alright, not a long-term solution for anybody, but I think playing alongside a player like Diego Godin makes any young centre-half a whole lot better.
“Inter you say, I think there are a whole lot more clubs who would be, if not should be, interested.
“He would be a perfect fit for them [United], especially with some of the discussions we’ve been having and some of the player that they are seemingly interested in.”
Napoli have reportedly rejected a mammoth £95m million bid for their big Senegalese centre back and Leicester City are said to be standing firm on their £75m evaluation for Harry Maguire, a figure United are reluctant to match.
Given the insane inflation in the transfer market, a move for Diego Godin wouldn’t be the worst thing for Manchester United as at 33 he has a good season or two in him whilst United get ample time to get other quality defenders or to nurture bright young prospects of their own.
