Dirk Kuyt played more than 200 games for Liverpool. Scoring whole lot of goals for the Reds in the process. He has since moved into retirement but keeps a close watch on all things Liverpool.
He was recently at Anfield to witness Liverpool’s title run-in. Klopp’s men have been overcoming all the hurdles that have been put up in their way, and will be looking to finish the last four games with wins.
To do that, the players on the pitch must perform and the ones not playing regularly must be in the right mindset to give their best when the time comes. One such player who has had to endure being out of the first choice team is Wijnaldum. The Dutchman was a regular last season, but since Klopp mixed things up in midfield, he is not involved that regularly.
Durk Kuyt recently saw him during a match and this is what he thinks about his compatriot and fellow Red:
“What I also like is the fantastic mentality of Georginio Wijnaldum. Before the kick-off I saw his eyes.
“You felt the disappointment that he was not playing, but when you see how professional he was before, during and after the game, you get more admiration for him. That’s how you should be a pro.
“The final sprint becomes so important. Yet Gini deals with that in a great way. He falls in, he does his work and celebrates with his fellow players as it should be. A real team player. ”
