Reports coming out of Mohamed Salah’s homeland may play spoilsport to the mood of Liverpool fans. Fans that are expecting still on a two-faceted glory this season would be disappointed to know that Salah may not play against Barcelona.
Liverpool are already without Naby Keita, who is out with an abductor injury for the season. Roberto Firmino has also been ruled out by Klopp for the second leg despite coming on late in the loss at Nou Camp.
If these stories out of Egypt are right, Klopp will be ruing the fact that two of his first choice front-three will not be available on Tuesday night. Salah has 4 goals and 2 assists in 11 Champions League this season. It is noteworthy that another injury had taken him away from the final last year. His bad luck seems to follow Salah around in European games.
This injury to Salah was caused by Martin Dubravka delivering an almost Kung-Fu style kick to the Egyptian’s head. Salah lay motionless while he was treated and then taken away on a stretcher. The Premier League has rules regarding head injuries to safeguard players against Concussion and the report says Salah will have to sit it out because of them.
If that is indeed the case then it is a familiar story for Salah who will rue the inability to make a difference yet again due to forced absence.
The news of his absence comes through Yalla Kora (funny name!)
After the game Klopp had hoped to have his talisman back in time for the next tie, but it seems that is not to be. Salah and Firmino are out for the Barcelona match. *sad face*.
