Everton are the favourites to sign Getafe defender Djene Dakonam for £30 million as they look to replace a departing Kurt Zouma.
According to reports, Arsenal are also interested in the Togo international but their limited £45 million transfer budget has rendered them incompetent to compete for the defender.
Everton, on the other hand, are expected to invest heavily in the market to bolster their hopes of getting into European places next season and Dakonam could be a right start.
Its been hard to confirm my situation for next season as that decision hadn’t been fully made by the club until now, unfortunately my journey at Everton has come to an end after 12 fantastic seasons, I have been lucky enough to play over 380 games and lucky enough to be club pic.twitter.com/APFP1eGIbx

Phil Jagielka has already announced that he’ll be ending his 12-year-stay at Goodison Park in the summer, so that leaves Marko Silva with only Michael Keane and an injury prone Yerry Mina.
Kurt Zouma’s one-year loan tenure expired in the summer and he is not expected to stay given Chelsea’s impending transfer ban fiasco.
Dakonam would be an ideal replacement for Zouma.
Both defenders are fast, strong and agile also have mastered the act of last-ditch defending.
Dakonam featured heavily for Getafe this season, helping the club finish at the 5th spot in La-Liga something the Everton fans must be hoping should they get the deal over the line in the ongoing summer transfer window.
