Remember the season when Luis Suarez almost won the Reds a league title? If Gerrard hadn’t slipped in that loss to Chelsea (who are expected at Anfield in an identical fixture today), we might just have won it.
It wasn’t just Luis Suarez’s goalscoring that season. He played in tandem with another Red, Daniel Sturridge.
The England striker was critical to everything Brendan Rodger’s Liverpool did that season. He scored 24 league goals, a number never heard or seen by him. It was second only to Suarez. This season, Sturridge has 24 appearances in total, scoring four times.
Brendan Rodgers is back in England with Leicester City. The Foxes’ new manager wants to be re-united with his old charge and will not pay anything if all goes to his plan.
Sturridge’s Liverpool contract expires in the coming summer and he is free to discuss terms with anyone he wants. Should he move to Leicester after Brendan’s arrival for a last hurrah, it should not surprise anyone.
Good Luck Danny.
