We have covered Lyall Thomas’ interview with ‘Last Word on Spurs’ extensively in the last few days. Now, we reveal his thoughts on another transfer window story from the Sky Sports journalist. He thinks Ryan Sessegnon wants to join Spurs and expects it to be done before too long. Sessegnon’s transfer to Spurs should be the first to be announced.

Tottenham fans have read everywhere so far that the club will invest heavily in the squad this summer. However, not much has materialized yet. At best, the club has begun negotiations and they are in the early stages. Still, there’s until August 8 to wrap up any impending transfers.

Sessegnon’s transfer to Spurs should definitely go through

There are a few things that hold back a transfer from happening. Chief among them is the player’s desire to play for the club in question. Lyall Thomas says in Sessegnon’s case, the player intends to play at the Tottenham Hotspur stadium next season.

Ryan Sessegnon's transfer to Spurs will happen: Sky's Lyall Thomas
Sky’s Lyall Thomas thinks Tottenham will sign Fulham’s Sessegnon this summer.

In the podcast, Lyall Thomas reveals the reasons this move is bound to happen:

“Man United and Juve are in the background but they know Ryan wants to stay in London and go to Spurs. He’s not going to sign a new contract, he’s got one year left at Fulham, they’ve been relegated, Pochettino loves him, has done for ages. All the talent is still there, 19-years-old, what more do you want?”

Thomas goes on to elaborate that Spurs have been quiet admirers of the left wing back who can play across the length of the pitch on the left. He has sometimes also been deployed on the right for Fulham. Thus, both the parties are equally interested.

The remaining impetus for the deal should come from the fact that Fulham are relegated and need to bring down their expenditure to avoid the League’s FFP penalties. They may do so by selling player- reducing the wage bill and raising cash. Further, Ryan Sessegnon’s transfer to Spurs should be easy given he only has an year left. With no extension in sight, Tottenham stand to win this one easily.
