Manchester United are no longer pursuing their interest in Newcastle midfielder Sean Longstaff, according to a report from the Daily Telegraph and some Red Devils supporters are overjoyed by the news.
The report goes on to add that Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s side have now set their sights on Ajax youngster Donny van de Beek instead.
Of all the creative midfielders who have been linked with Manchester United this season, Longstaff has been poorest and most unlikely of them all.
With a pass success rate of just 75.5% (via WhoScored), Longstaff is far poorer than Fred (87.8%) and the injured Scott McTominay (78.8%) and it would have been sad if Man Utd would have considered him even as a backup.
As a result, these United supporters are overjoyed that the club has apparently ended their interest in Longstaff – here’s what they had to say on Twitter.
Honestly Matty is so much better, would’ve been a terrible move

Should never been considered

Whether the Red Devils be able to sign a proper midfielder would be something to be seen this January.
