Tottenham might still make a last-ditch attempt to bring Sporting midfielder Bruno Fernandes to the White Hart Lane as Manchester United’s bid of £46.4 million for the player seems to have been rejected by the Portuguese side.

Spurs fans were delighted by the news and took to the social media to express their opinion.

What’s the news?

Sporting are facing some serious debt crisis right now, more so after signing a new player. This only means that they are forced to sell their star player Bruno Fernandes to fund their debt or any other deal.

Manchester United tried to take advantage of this situation by stalling the deal and making Sporting wait so that they can get the player for a lower price. However, after the intervention of Jorge Mendes, the Manchester side put an improved offer over the weekend. Sporting though still feel that they deserve better and might be looking to get a better offer from any other European side. Bruno Fernandes was offered to Spurs during the summer transfer window and there is a high probability that we might be bidding for him this time around as well.

Jose Mourinho’s side are arguably in need of an attacking midfielder, with Christian Eriksen looking set to seal his move to Inter this week and Fernandes could prove to be the ideal replacement.

The Portuguese international has been in fantastic form so far this season; averaging an impressive 7.83 rating in all competitions, so it is no surprise to see him being so heavily linked with a move away from the Liga NOS side.
