German international Ilkay Gundogan has laid bare his apprehension about the Manchester City squad. While Liverpool now have to stroll to qualification in the UCL following a 2-0 first leg win, City have it all to do against Tottenham.
It could prove to be the final straw that breaks the camel’s back in City’s case. While Liverpool have a good fixture where they can rest some of their stars, City will dish out the usual starters in every game given the difficulty of their fixtures.
Ilkay Gundogan shed some light on the mentality within the Citizens’ camp. It will be very encouraging to Liverpool squad and fans:
“We were not brave enough in the game, there were many simple mistakes,”
“I have the feeling that we are nervous in important Champions League games.”
– Ilkay Gundogan
It seems City have yet to master the Champions League.
