Manchester United are close to completing their fourth signing, Hannibal Mejbri, from Monaco, after wrapping up the Harry Maguire deal.
Hannibal Mejbri is one of the most talented and sought after youngster in Europe who was signed up by Monaco in a £1m deal when he was just 14.
Now, at 16 years of age, Mejbri has already represented France at the various youth level and is being regarded as one of the best up and coming youngsters in the country.
The reports indicate that the midfielder, who can play anywhere in the Central Midfield, fell with his parent club Monaco over a contract dispute.
While United were willing to sign the youngster in the January of 2019, the 16-year-old’s appeal to have his contract terminated with his parent club was rejected by the French body, Ligue de Football Professionnel, given that the player is still under 18.
But, as per the reports, Mejbri has already passed his medical and is set to be unveiled as Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s 4th signing of the summer after Daniel James, Aaron Wan-Bissaka, and Harry Maguire.
As per the reports, United are set to pay £9.2m to Monaco for the services of the midfielder with £4.6m to be paid upfront, while the next £4.6m to be paid in various bonuses.
According to Le Parisien, Hannibal Mejbri visited the Carrington to have a conversation with the manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer and the French compatriots, Anthony Martial and Paul Pogba, before agreeing to sign a 5 year deal that will keep him at the club until 2024.
Hannibal isn’t expected to feature in the first team this season as the midfielder would most likely slot in with the youth teams and develop his game further before making a claim for the first team.
