Harry Maguire can sign for Manchester United on one condition

Manchester United are free to sign Leicester City defender Harry Maguire, but he will still cost them a lot of money.

Manchester United are in a desperate hunt for a center-back who can partner Victor Lindelof in the heart of the defence and Harry Maguire has been identified as the man who could do that for the Reds.

The 26-year-old Leicester City man has been the talk of the town for the past few weeks as both the clubs from Manchester fight over the signing of the Englishman.

However, as per the latest reports, Manchester City have pulled out of the transfer race for the defender as the noisy neighbors refused to pay anything above £65m for the services of the Foxes man.

Manchester United, meanwhile, tried to include a player in the deal in a hope to bring down the price for the 26-year-old, but apparently that tactic failed as well as Leicester City made their demands perfectly clear.

The midlands club wants United (or any potential suitor) to cough up £85m for Harry Maguire in cash. That means, no player exchange deals, no haggling over transfer fee and probably no bonuses too. Just straight £85m of green should do.

It’s still unclear whether Ed Woodward would sanction the deal at this price, but as per Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, we are looking to complete a couple of deals before the close of the transfer window:

“We’ve been good in the market. Still working on a case or two,” he told MUTV. “I’ve been in touch with Joel (Glazer) and Ed (Woodward) and recruitment over summer.

“There will probably be some more business done, but we are happy with what we have done so far.

“We want players who can get us off the edge of their seats. They are hungry and at the start of their careers. They are here now.

“We don’t expect them to set the world alight in their first day. But they have an X Factor.

“It is about them coming in, being themselves and show they want to take someone’s place. That should spur others on. It has been a delight to see Daniel (James) train.”

Hopefully, we do complete a deal for a world-class center-back before the end of the window.

Or at the very least, promote Axel Tuanzebe and have him partner Lindelof in defence for next season!
