Harry Maguire transfer to Manchester United from Leicester City is still far from being agreed between both the clubs, according to journalist Kevin Palmer.
While both Manchester clubs saw transfer offers believed to be around £65million rejected by Leicester earlier in the summer, the Reds have continued to be linked with the defender, with many reports claiming that the England international wants the move.
Manchester United conceded 59 Premier League goals last season and are in a desperate need of a top center-half, with Maguire being Ole’s preferred option.
Leicester’s boss, Brendan Rodgers, was questioned about Maguire’s situation after his side’s friendly win over Cambridge United, a game captained by Maguire himself, and the former Liverpool manager claimed that no transfer was in place for the 26-year-old.
“We’re very relaxed,” said the Northern Irishman.
“The clubs that have spoken to Leicester have not met any valuation that the club has put on him, so at this moment in time he’s very much a Leicester player, and you can see where his concentration is, and it’s very much here.”
When further questioned about Maguire’s decision on the transfer, the manager refused to confirm anything.
“That’s not really for me to say,” he said. “I’m quite relaxed. It’s all ‘what if?’ At this moment in time, there’s nothing there that is going to tempt the club at all. The club doesn’t need to sell, the club doesn’t want to sell.”
However, it looked like the deal was about to be concluded in the past few days as various respected news outlet, including journalist Dean Jones, writing that the defender’s move to Old Trafford is close to completion.
But trusted transfer journalist, Kevin Palmer wrote on his twitter handle that Brendan Rodgers confirmed after Leicester’s friendly against Stoke that nothing has changed since his previous clarification.
“Leicester manager Brendan Rodgers confirms no fee has been agreed with Manchester United for Harry Maguire, despite reports making that claim last week. Says nothing has changed since United’s last offer earlier this month”

It is now becoming clearer that United have to step up financially if they really want to sign the Englishman.
