Aaron Ramsey was downhearted after making his emotional farewell at the Emirates in front of the fans, according to great Ray Parlour.
The Wales international was full of emotions as fans chanted ‘we want you to stay’ from the terraces, and former Arsenal midfielder Ray Parlour says that Ramsey did not want to leave the club.
“He is gutted that he is leaving,” said Parlour on talkSPORT. “We can talk about the financial [side of it], whatever his representatives wanted, but he loved the club, he really did.
“He’s been there over ten years and it’s heart-breaking to see someone who really wants to play for the club leave.”
“I would have tried to do everything I could within my powers to keep him, financially, but they didn’t want to go down the same road they did with Mesut Ozil and giving those big contracts out again. But you can look at it and say he’s probably a more important player than Mesut Ozil at the moment.”
Ramsey will be joining Juventus the next season on a free transfer and was there in the stands for the last game of Arsenal.
The 28-year-old has been at the North London outfit from the last ten years and been among the best midfielders Gunners had till date.
