Ince: Harry Kane shouldn’t start the Champions League final vs Liverpool

Paul Ince, who played for West Ham, Man United and Liverpool among other English clubs during the 80s and 90s thinks that Liverpool risk being exhausted and burnt out when they take the pitch against Tottenham Hotspur in the Champions League final.

If you have not read this a million times in millions of blog posts: Liverpool lost out on the Premier League trophy by a single point against Manchester City. The nail biter title race lasted until the last day of the Premier League. Liverpool fought tooth and nail as they tried chasing Manchester City who won their last 14 league games.

Since 12th of May, Liverpool have got a nice break but Ince thinks that may not be good enough after such a gruelling title race and the tactics Liverpool deploy, which suck the life out of players.

Speaking to betmakers Paddy Power, Ince said:

Losing out to City in the Premier League will have not only taken its toll on Liverpool physically, but mentally too. When you finish the season like that, and have a three week wait for the final, that’s draining for anyone – never mind if you’ve just missed out on the title.

Ince doesn’t want Pochettino to start with Kane in the Champions League final

Harry Kane shouldn't start in the Champions League final
Lucas Moura and Son have been so good, that Kane shouldn’t start the Champions League final according to Ince

We all know that as a manager you have to win some silverware, but Pochettino is in the same position.
But, to call Liverpool or Klopp a ‘bottler’ is a disgrace – utterly ridiculous, whether they win or lose on Saturday.

In his opinion Klopp has done a magnificent job in the Premier League. If they fail to win the Champions League again, it wouldn’t be bottling it. Thankfully, he won’t call Spurs a bunch of bottlers either.
