Reports from Italy have claimed that Inter Milan have stepped up their efforts to sign out of favour Tottenham Hotspur midfielder Christian Eriksen and would even offer their midfielder Matias Vecino as part of a potential swap deal.
It is to be noted that the Dane has refused to sign his contract extension with Tottenham and with less than 6 months remaining of his contract, he is free to talk to other clubs as a free agent.
Irrespective of whether Tottenham decide to sell him or not, writing is now on the wall now. It’s the end of Christian Eriksen at the White Hart Lane.
It is being reported that Inter are the front runners in Eriksen’s pursuit and are keen to bring him to the San Siro this month as opposed to waiting until the summer.
They are also interested in Barcelona’s Arturo Vidal and it appears unlikely that they will secure both additions this window.
According to Sky Italia, Inter want to trade Uruguayan midfielder Vecino as part of a deal that would see Eriksen depart Tottenham this month.
He is a player Chelsea targeted before when Maurizio Sarri was in charge of the club. There is also said to be interest from Carlo Ancelotti about bringing Vecino to Everton.
Despite links away from the club, Vecino is a player that Antonio Conte continues to count on having made 14 Serie A appearances this season. Also, Tottenham aren’t believed to be too keen on a swap deal and would like to get whatever cash they could for the midfielder.
It will be interesting to see where Christian Eriksen finally ends by the end of the January transfer window.
