Former defender Jaap Stam thinks Odion Ighalo, who is going the Red Devils on loan from Chinese side Shanghai Shenhua, will a better player at Manchester United than what he was at Watford.
Odion Ighalo was signed on the last day of the January transfer window to reinforce the Man Utd attack as Marcus Rashford is out for 3 months due to injury.
Ighalo returns to the Premier League after a successful stint in China, where he scored 46 goals in 72 appearances, following on from his three years with Watford.
Two of those years with the Hornets were in the Premier League, where he scored a total of 16 top-flight goals, but Stam is confident he will have a better return due to the players around him at United.
If you’re playing with better players, and hopefully now he is playing with better players, you will get more opportunity to score as well,” he told Sky Sports News.
“I’m sure he has got the ability. He wasn’t first choice, but I assume that people have seen him, trust him and know what he can bring to the squad.
“If you have players around you who can play you into certain positions to score, then he’s probably going to score more goals.”
