James Carragher asserts that the Arsenal star Alexandre Lacazette has improved a lot in the last 12 months.
The 27-year-old forward who joined from Lyon on a transfer fee of 46.5 Million Euros has scored 17 goals in his first campaign for the club but despite that Carragher wasn’t convinced.
“I think when Lacazette first came, I’ll be honest with you, I was thinking he’s not quite at an elite level,” the Liverpool legend said on Sky Sports.
“And Wenger used to bring him off a lot and not play him in sort of the real big games.
“And you’re thinking ‘well he’s watching him every day, even though he spent £50m on him, he still doesn’t feel like he’s real top drawer’.
Lacazatte with his incredible game display has helped the club to reach the top three spot and also played a significant role in Arsenal’s 2-0 victory over Newcastle United on Monday.
The French star says that he feels there has been a vast improvement in the atmosphere at the Emirates this season.
“I can feel the difference in the atmosphere from last season, now we can maybe go to the Champions League,” he told Sky Sports.
“The fans helped us to get third place.
We work every day to be in third place; now we must stay in this position.
“I would like to score away from home, too, but if we win that’s all that is important.
“We are more confident, and everybody knows what we have to do.”
