Liverpool legend Jamie Carragher believes that Jurgen Klopp should drop Naby Keita, despite his excellent performance against Saints, in favour of Jordan Henderson.
“I would take Keita out against Chelsea and put Henderson in.”
“Fabinho has that holding position but where I would play Henderson is further forward. That’s maybe the position we associated him with for England and when he first came to Liverpool.
“That midfield is still not that creative, but against Chelsea the way to win that game is, as Klopp would say, to press, to get after them and to get close to Jorginho. That’s what Jordan Henderson can give you.”
We think, Carragher is aiming for a midfield trio of Henderson, Wijnaldum and Fabinho, with Fabinho playing the holding position, while Henderson is deployed further forward in an attempt to press Jorginho.
As we are already aware, Chelsea is a great team but almost all of their attack goes through Jorginho.
The Blues have struggled against the teams who have put pressure on Jorginho this season and the most obvious tactics is to press the Brazilian born Italian international and disrupt Chelsea’s play in the midfield.
In that sense, the trio of Henderson, Wijnaldum and Fabinho makes the most sense.
What do you think our midfield should be against Sarri’s men?
