The title race is almost going down the wire, especially if Manchester United can’t hold City in a home match today.
According to John Aldridge, the goal phenom of the 80s team, Liverpool will still make up 97 points this season. And still lose the title to Pep Guardiola’s City.
Liverpool are hoping their long-time rivals Man United will do them a solid one by holding the City juggernaut. But bringing the Citizens doens’t seem a task United can accomplish. Even Jurgen Klopp has said so much.
Aldridge has predicted that United will not win today. Which is sad to hear as a Liverpool fan, but not much we can do about it. In his column for the Independent in Ireland, Aldridge lays bare his apprehension about United’s ability and motivation in today’s game.
United’s defence is third rate and while they have some decent attacking players who could trouble City, it is hard to believe they will be capable of stopping Guardiola’s side if they are on top form.
I also question whether their manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has the tactical nous to come up with a game plan that will give his side a chance to emerge from this game with anything other than another heavy beating.
