Jurgen Klopp might not be planning a system overhaul, but he is sure that the introduction of the new January signing Takumi Minamino into the starting eleven would have a direct impact on the team.
Talking to the reporters about the new signing from RB Salzburg, Klopp confirmed that the Japanese forward was tailor-made for his high flying Liverpool side.
Manchester United were also said to be in pursuit of the player, however, Liverpool were able to outwit them after learning of his affordable £7.25million release clause.
The 24-year-old forward will be joining his fellow Liverpool players on the first of January when the transfer window opens, and Klopp says he will have no hesitation taking the player straight into his team.
It’s not reshaping, but Taki is for sure a player who can help us immediately in the short term and the long term, from an age perspective,” Klopp told ESPN.
“He’s already really good. Everyone could see when we played Salzburg. But still [there is] potential there to become even better.
“It’s not a competition, it’s just to have different options in different moments and the door is wide open that Taki can come in the team.”
Minamino’s transfer to Liverpool was confirmed this week.
