Jurgen Klopp explains why the referee was on his side against Cardiff

The win over Cardiff was not without it’s own difficulties. Liverpool huffed and puffed for almost 60 minutes but couldn’t find a breakthrough.

While Georginio Wijnaldum didn’t have any questions raised when he scored from a corner, the second goal created a bit of controversy. At least Neil Warnock tried to flag it as controversial in a manner only he can.

Still, Klopp believes in other moments that could have altered the outcome of the match, such as a missed header from Cardiff’s Sean Morrison, the ref would have helped out. Morrison went on to concede the penalty for Cardiff.

Here’s Klopp explaining why Morrison’s header wouldn’t have counted had he nodded home:

“I think the big chance they had [Morrison header], the ref told me it would have been a foul on Ali, so it wouldn’t have been a goal.”
