Liverpool had a job to finish in the Champions League second leg against Porto. The Reds ran out 1-6 winners on aggregate. In a rare move Liverpool’s reserve striker Origi started the game.
The Belgian striker has 10 appearances in total and is billed with a move away from Liverpool. However Klopp giving him a increased run of games could lead to him staying. The chances of a prolonged run in the team are slim.
The German manager is unlikely to be able to allow for squad testing now that all the games Liverpool will play are like finals in themselves.
However, Klopp is happy with his charges and Origi is in his plans for this season for sure:
“Bobby has no fitness issues and because he doesn’t get any, that’s why we started with Divock,”
“We defended as a unit in the first line not too good, we had to change it at half-time
“But it was nothing about Divock. In training he is in unbelievable shape. How the game developed was perhaps not the most thankful game for a striker. That’s all.”
