Jurgen Klopp has reportedly made up his mind to give Liverpool’s attacking midfielder Adam Lallana a new role for the coming season.
The 31-year-old has played only 13 matches for the club in the last season, thanks to the persisting injury problems.
Klopp seems to be very much impressed with Lallana’s recent performance as he played incredibly well in the deeper-lying midfield position in Liverpool’s pre-season game.
The English international has spent most of his career playing as an attacking midfielder, but, now may have to play in a deeper role if Klopp wants to switch his role.
Klopp believes that Lallana’s performance could offer a different option in what should be a fierce competition for places in midfield.
“It is about getting Adam rhythm, bringing him in early and doing things he is naturally good at small spaces, passing the ball, and then from time-to-time offering the runs in behind as well and together with Milly that is possible.
“He needs a bit of luck, like we all do in life. We have to come through without injuries, that would be cool, and then we have a couple of new players, I would say, this season.”
Previously, Klopp has utilized James Milner by using him as a left-back and the Gaffer wants to do something similar with Lallana in the coming season.
