At the BT Sports Industry awards held yesterday, former Liverpool winger Raheem Sterling got recognition for his efforts against Racism and discrimination.
That is all well and good. Even commendable. Even as a player, he has come a long way since leaving Anfield in 2015. He earned his right to be respected as a footballer.
But respect is not something he is comfortable with, especially from Liverpool fans.
In his awards speech, he took a cheap dig at Liverpool when asked about the Premier League title:
“Any slip and you’ve got the Liverpool guys that can go on top and you don’t want, I don’t want that and I don’t think anybody wants that!”
