Tottenham News has mostly concerned itself with the players coming to the new Tottenham Hotspur stadium. However, there are several players at Spurs whose future hangs in the balance after reaching the Champions League final. Especially as the club wants to renew and refresh the squad with younger players. One player who is not so young anymore is Kieran Trippier.
Trippier has already talked about leaving the club
Trippier will be 29 in September. That’s what’s giving the Spurs right back sleepless nights because he thinks the club will want to cash out on him before adding fresh legs to the team. Evidently, the club has tried to recoup money in case a player approaches 30, as Trippier is doing now.
This is done to reduce the sunk cost on players who will lose value and decline in the near future. Trippier has anyway been a weak link for the team in the last season so his apprehensions are not unfounded. Hence the talks of a move away from the London club. Spurs still stand to make good profit on the player after buying him for peanuts from Burnley four years ago. His contract was last renewed in 2017, extended until 2022.
Cruch talks with manager Mauricio Pochettino on the horizon
Mauricio Pochettino has been trusted with taking the team to the next sphere of performance. He has to do it with the most important players at the clubs and also by getting rid of the ones who should be upgraded.
Juventus are said to be keen on buying the player and Kieran Trippier wants to know if it is possible for him to have a long-term future assured at the club. Should the manager show reluctance in making the England defender central to his plans going forward, Trippier would rather leave for Turin and hope to sign a lucrative contract as his career approaches the twilight zone.
