Liverpool lined up against Tottenham without Fabinho in the squad. He left Brazilian midfielder Fabinho out of his starting XI. Many people raised an eyebrow on his match selection, but after a last gasp win he has been vindicated.

Fabinho did come on in the second half and made a difference. Though that may not have been a co-incidence. As Klopp revealed after the game, he was quiet satisfied with the performance of the squad. Especially those that came on in the second half and changed the dynamic of the game.

The Liverpool Echo reported his statement regarding Fabinho in particular:

“A proper impact. But he only had to play 15 minutes against a tired side but he was brilliant. He won a lot of really good balls and passed the ball.”

15 minutes or not, Fabinho did what he was sent to do. Liverpool won the game 2-1 and Klopp’s plans worked out in the end…
