In less than 24 hours, Liverpool host Chelsea. The match is of paramount importance because if the Reds win, they will keep the title race alive. If they don’t they will have to hope that City have already slipped at the hands of another London club.
Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp talked about the importance of supporting the team earlier. Now in his pre-match press conference the manager talks about injury concerns and squad options. He specifically answered questions regarding the prospects of Joe Gomez now that he has recovered from his long term injury.
According to Klopp, without injuries to someone in the backline, Joe Gomez would likely stay out of the squad.
“Having Joe around is a very difficult situation. He’s a wonderful footballer and needs time so we have to make sure he is 100% fit.
“If the other boys are fit we can give Joe time to get to full fitness and match practice elsewhere.”
